Police gathered to protest unfair promotions, hospital access and internal torture

Three thousand policemen protested today in front of the ministry of interior and Tahrir Complex in downtown Cairo.

The policemen were angry because Minister of Interior Mansour El-Eissawy had given orders that all policemen with a law degree, a masters degree or PhD may be promoted to officer ranks. His orders were ignored.

The policemen were also furious because they were not allowed to get treatment in the police hospitals.

In addition to this, some complained that two policemen had been tortured in a police station in Ismaliya by the officers working there.
