Art Alert: Egyptian band Eftekasat to hold album release concert at Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Launching this month, 'Gar Shakal' is the band's third album after 'Moulid Sidi El Latini' and 'Dandasha'

Egyptian band Eftekasat will hold a release concert for their new album Gar Shakal on Friday 9 October at Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

Another release concert is scheduled for Sunday 18 October at the closing of Cairo Jazz Festival's seventh edition. 

This is the band's third album after Moulid Sidi El Latini (2006) and Dandasha (2010).

Founded in 2001, Efetkasat is an oriental and contemporary jazz band that aims to “find a new unorthodox dimension for oriental musical themes through a fusion with other musical styles ranging among Balkan, North African, Latin and Jazz,” as is mentioned on their official Facebook page.

The band’s current lineup includes Amro Salah (piano, accordion), Samer George (bass), Ahmed Hesham (drums), Sherif Alaa (guitar), Mohamed Aly (violin, vocals, oud), and Hany Bedeir (percussion).
