Caretaker coach Abdel-Aziz “Zizo” Abdel-Shafy has named several of Ahly’s new signings in his squad for Thursday’s Egypt Super Cup match against Zamalek.
The Super Cup marks the beginning of the 2015/16 season. The Red Devils are keen to make amends after seeing rivals Zamalek win the league and cup in 2014/15. Both clubs exited the CAF Confederation Cup at the semifinal stage.
Ahly’s 27-man squad features newly signed defensive duo Ahmed Hegazy and Rami Rabia, and fellow arrival forward Ahmed El-Sheikh.
Hegazy and Rabia are eligible for the first time while El-Sheikh, who was been registered for some time, has been included in a Ahly’s squad for the second time.
Skipper Hossam Ghaly and attacking midfielder Walid Soliman are also available after recovering from injuries.
Zizo also included players involved in Egypt's friendly game against Zambia on Sunday. They will join up with the squad on Monday when Ahly fly to the United Arab Emirates, where the match will take place.
