Egypt's coach Hector Cuper has called up Petrojet keeper Mohamed El-Shennawy to the squad that will take on Chad on Tuesday as a backup option after the injury of Sherif Ekrami.
Ahly keeper Ekrami sustained a thigh injury on Sunday and is very doubtful for the game.
"Ekrami is still with us and he will undergo a fitness test tonight to see if he will be able to play the game," the goalkeeper coach Ahmed Nagy told reporters on Monday.
Ahmed El-Shennawy is the number one choice for Cuper between the sticks while Ekrami has been warming up the bench recently.
The status of striker Bassem Morsi also remains unclear until now. The Pharaohs' marksman was carried off the field during last Saturday's away leg against Chad after picking up a knock.
He is suffering from an ankle injury and is likely to miss the game.
The seven-time African Champions need a 2-goal margin victory to overturn their 1-0 away defeat.
