النهار له عنّين
El nahar loh einein
Translation: The day has eyes
Meaning: Don’t work at night. It will soon be daytime and you can do the work then. This saying, although still current, may be going out of fashion now that our nights are electrically lit. The saying likely dates back to a time when people relied on dim gas-lit lamps to light their homes and streets.
