Al-Ahram Institution will host an open forum on Sunday 6 December with figures from the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (NRRA) to discuss safety measures for the planned Dabaa nuclear power plant.
Head of the NRRA Mohamed Reda Ezz El-Din and deputy head Waleed Zeidan will lead the discussion.
The forum will be held at Ahram Institution’s headquarters in Downtown Cairo’s Al-Galaa Street at 5pm Cairo Local Time (CLT).
The speakers will answer all the public’s questions regarding the safety standards and procedures during the construction and operation of the nuclear power plant. They will also discuss methods of disposing of nuclear waste.
Two weeks ago, Egypt signed a deal with Russia to construct a nuclear power plant in Dabaa west of Alexandria and south of the Mediterranean.
Each of the plant's four projected units will generate 1,200 megawatts (MW). The construction is expected to be completed within 12 years.
