Meteorologists expect a glimpse of wintry weather to begin in Egypt on Monday, with temperatures predicted to fall by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius countrywide.

The plunge will result in windy weather in the north and eastern part of the country and rough waters in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, Wahid Saudi, spokesperson for the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), told Ahram Online.

Temperatures are forecasted to dip to a high of 22 Celsius (71 degrees Fahrenheit) and a low of 15 (59F) in the capital Cairo. The Mediterranean city of Alexandria is expected to see colder weather with a high of 18 (64F) and a low of 14 (57F).

Light rains are expected in Cairo and the Nile Delta. Rainfall is forecasted to be heavier in the western and eastern coastal provinces, Saudi added.

The cold stint is likely to last into Wednesday.

The northeastern coast and southern provinces are likely to see warmer weather with average highs of 24 C (75 F).
