Chelsea's title defense sunk to a new low as Bournemouth became the first Premier League newcomers to beat the west London team in more than 14 years on Saturday.
Bournemouth's 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge will rank as one of the biggest in the 125-year history of the south coast team, which is playing in the top flight in the first time.
Having repelled waves of Chelsea attacks, Bournemouth's goal came in the 82nd from Glenn Murray who had been on the pitch less than two minutes.
The victory took Bournemouth out of the relegation zone, with Chelsea only two points ahead in 14th place in the league it won in May.
Chelsea's eighth loss in 15 league games was the club's first defeat against league newcomers since April 2001.
