كل واحد عارف شمس داره تطلع منين

Koll wahed aref shams daru tetlaa menein

Translation: Everyone knows where the sun rises at their own home.

Meaning: People know more than you about their own lives, so mind your own business. It can also mean, if you need a job done, go to people who have the experience. This proverb, no longer in common use, must have originated in the nineteenth century or before. The reference to house as dar, rather than beit, is now rare in urban environments and in Egypt's countryside. It is, however, still the norm in Syria and Lebanon.
