Ahly management have fined their first team players LE50,000 each after the shocking 3-0 loss to Smouha in the 5th match day of the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday.
The Red Devils are ninth in the league table with 9 points after five games; they have won 3 and lost 2, the first 1-0 to Maqassa in the fourth match day and the second a 3-0 loss to Smouha on Thursday.
The Cairo giants suffered a nightmarish night on Thursday during the defeat at home at the hands of Smouha when the defence made horrible blunders at the back, conceding an early penalty and being hit twice on the counter attacks.
The team dominated possession but failed to capitalise on their chances or open any gaps in their rivals' compact defence.
Ahly Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro revealed that the players did not follow his instructions as he was expecting more from them, but they lost focus and failed to meet his expectations.
Moreover, the management are considering suspending the players’ fees until the end of the first round of the Egyptian Premier League if they do not up their game in the coming matches.
Ahly will face Haras El-Hodoud in the ninth league match day on Monday.
