Tuesday marked the final takeover of Biolab (Al Makhbariyoun Al Arab), the Jordan based lab group, by Al-Borg Laboratories, one of the primary medical diagnostics firms in the Middle East.
The takeover is the latest attempt by Al-Borg to expand into Middle Eastern markets, and the company's fourth acquisition since 2008.
Amid Abdel Nour, Biolab’s founder and managing director, said: “This partnership will help us quickly scale up our operations and expand our branch network across Jordan and the Levant region.”
Although Al-Borg acquired a major stake of Biolab, Abdel Nour would retain his position in running the business. Abdel Nour would also be a member in the Board of Directors of both Biolab and Al-Borg.
“We will benefit from Al-Borg’s track record and know-how in running large lab chains spread across remote areas in addition to its financial support and institutional backing,” said Abdel Nour.
