Mohamed Salah failed to score for the third successive Serie A game and picked up an injury as AS Roma were held to a 3-3 draw by Chievo Verona in a thrilling clash on Wednesday.

The Egyptian international, who has not been at his best since recovering from an ankle ligament injury last month, drew a blank again and was guilty of squandering a goal-scoring chance as Roma failed to hold onto their lead.

Salah had a chance to put Roma 3-1 up on 55 minutes when he was found unmarked by a mis-hit shot but he flicked the ball then it blasted it high over with the goal at his mercy, with Chievo restoring parity three minutes later.

He was replaced with Lorenzo Di Livio nine minutes past the hour mark after sustaining an injury.

Roma then went 3-2 up through an Iago Falque goal but Chievo secured a share of spoils with an 86th-minute goal from Simone Pepe.

Salah, who joined Roma from English champions Chelsea in the summer, has not found the net since scoring in a 2-1 win over his former club Fiorentina, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, in October.

The 23-year-old has scored five Serie A goals and one UEFA Champions League goal so far this season.

Roma are fifth in the Serie A table with 33 points, five behind leaders Fiorentina.
