Patrice Carteron quit his job as TP Mazembe's coach on Thursday after refusing to renew his contract with the Congolese side.

The Frenchman refused to renew his contract which expired in December, a few days after the club's disappointed adventure in the FIFA Club's World Cup where the African champions ended sixth after two defeats.

The former Mali coach spent two-and-a-half years at Mazembe. guiding them to win the domestic league twice (in 2013 and 2014) and to grab their fifth champions league title last November, at the expense of Algerian side USMA.

Mazembe will face Tunisian side Etoile Sportive du Sahel, winner of the Confederation Cup, in the African Super Cup next month in Lubumbashi.
