Egypt's High Administrative Court has delayed on Wednesday the ruling on Ahly's appeal against the dissolution of its board of directors until Sunday 17 January.
An administrative court had upheld on Sunday a recent decision to dissolve Ahly's board of directors after accepting the proceedings of a lawsuit that nullified the 2014 elections.
The last chance for survival for Ahly's board of directors, which is headed by Mahmoud Taher, will be determined on the 17th when the court decides whether to accept or reject the club's appeal.
The lawsuit, launched by two members of the club's general assembly, demanded the nullification of election results, claiming that they were called for in a general assembly meeting that did not reach the quorum for voting.
This could mark the first time ever for an Ahly board to be dissolved as a result of a court ruling.
Ahly have been traditionally lauded for their administrative stability, cited by many as one of the main reasons for their huge success over decades.
Taher has come under fire from the club's supporters after the team failed to win any major title last season.
