The countdown has begun to the launch of the fourth annual premier wedding fashion carnival in Egypt.

On 5 and 6 February, Cairo's Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski will be Egypt's premier fashion and couture hub, witnessing Season 4 of the 'Our Wedding Carnival' fashion extravaganza.

More than 150 sponsors and exhibitors will participate in the carnival this year, which in 2015 attracted almost 5,000 attendees over a two day period.

This year, Our Wedding Carnival Season 4 (OWC4) will showcase some of the best talents in the field. Five designer fashion shows, live hair styling and make up shows will be the focal point of the event.

The two-day event will have a colourful theme. Fireworks will also set the stage for a true bridal adventure.

The carnival for the first time will introduce to Egypt Spanish designer Aire.

"In 2014, there were nearly one million marriages in Egypt," said Sherif Ashraf, managing-director of the founding and organising company of the carnival.

"This is a very attractive industry to local companies, as well as investors working in Egypt, and we aim to position Egypt as a hub for the wedding industry in the region- one destination for both exhibitors and visitors alike."

The event will also feature Live Brand Parade, MUD Makeup show and a hair show by Kriss.

And for the very first time a satire programme host will provide entertainment to attendants with his famous character “Abu Hafiza."

More than 150 exhibitors will participate in the mega event, including fashion names Aire from Spain, Alura’s Bridal, Glamour and Tuxedo, who will inspire visitors with their new collections, as well as famous names in the field of jewellery, wedding planning, hair styling, wedding cakes manufacturers and others.

Sherif Ashraf, the managing director of Red Square agency for events, told Ahram Online that this season is special in many ways.

“We have worked hard to bring new colours and flavours to OWC4 this year, which competes with world-famous wedding extravaganzas worldwide, like its peer in London holds annually for instance," he said.

Last year, in collaboration with the non-governmental organisation, Benebny Hayah (We build life), the event extended a hand to the community, covering the wedding expenses of ten orphan brides, in the poorest villages of Fayoum.

This year, with the help of Bedaya NGO, OWC4 intends to build on the previous year's initiative, sponsoring the wedding expense of 20 brides in some of the most unprivileged destinations in Egypt.

The first Our Wedding Carnival was launched in 2013 as a destination for all wedding products under one roof. Since then, the exhibition has become Egypt’s prime annual wedding event, with more than 5000 attending last year's event, while on Facebook it has over 55,000 likes.

According to information provided by OWC4, a 5% percent increase of marriages has occurred between 2010 and 2014 in Egypt, and in 2014 alone, there were nearly one million marriages in the country.
