Ahly officially registered their newly signed midfielder Amr El-Sulaya for the team's domestic and African squad on Friday.

Egyptian giants Ahly signed former Ismaily midfielder Amr El-Sulaya on a free transfer for a four-and-half year contract after he has just parted ways with UAE side Al-Shaab two weeks ago, after a six-month spell, to become eligible to play for Ahly.

The 26-year-old midfielder won't be available for Ahly's starting game in the African Champions League due to his late appearance on the team's African squad as it would be the third edit for the Cairo giants so far.

Ahly registered all 30 players in the African squad early in December, then they reduced the size of the squad to 25 in the midde of January.

The Red Devils have been trying to add potential to their midfield which has been struggling with injuries throughout the season.

A clairvoyant playmaker and neat passer with good shooting attributes, El-Sulaya is expected to be a valuable addition to Hossam Ghaly and Hossam Ashour in central midfield.

Talented midfielder El-Sulaya moved last summer to the UAE League but failed to make an impact during his brief spell and returned to Egypt to join the Red Devils.

Ahly are seeking to boost their chances of winning silverware after finishing last season without any major trophies for the first time since 2004.

They will represent Egypt in the African Champions League this season alongside the league winners Zamalek after placing second in the Egyptian Premier League last season.
