Ivory Coast striker Seydou Doumbia has joined Premier League side Newcasle on loan, the club announced on Monday.
"The 28 year-old Ivory Coast international arrives from Italian side AS Roma, passing a medical and agreeing personal terms over the weekend. A work permit is required and an application has been made," the statement read.
Doumbia joined AS Roma in January 2015 from CSKA Moscow but was then loaned out to the Russia team again on a season-long deal after an unsuccessful spell with the Italian capital club.
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti seems not keen on keeping him in a star-studded frontline that includes the likes of Mohamed Salah, Eddin Dzeko, Stephan El Shaarawy and Iago Falque.
Newcastle are desperate to boost their strike force as they lie 18th in the 20-team table, having only scored 25 goals in their previous 23 games.
