Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said on Monday that Mohamed Elneny's debut with his side was encouraging.
The Egyptian international midfielder joined Arsenal in January and made his debut with the Gunners last Saturday when they defeated Burnley 2-1 in an FA Cup game.
"His first performance was very good in many aspects," Wenger told the club's official website on Monday.
"He had plenty of passes, he made 84 passes and 98 per cent were completed.
"His movement was good, he had a high work-rate."
The Frenchman added that the Egyptian international still needs time to adapt to the toughness of the Premier League and to gain more confidence.
"He has to adapt to the toughness of the challenges and certainly gain a little bit of confidence to be more incisive in his passing, but overall for a first performance it was encouraging," he added.
