The organisers of the 66th Berlin International Film Festival announced the jury line-up for two sections -- the International and First Feature awards -- of this year's event, scheduled to take place between 11 and 21 February.

According to information released in October 2015, the American actress and three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep will be head of the jury for Berlinale 2016's international section.

The International Jury will decide who is to receive the Golden Bear and Silver Bears.

Streep will also be joined by a number of internatioanal film makers: actor Lars Eidinger (Germany), film critic Nick James (United Kingdom), photographer Brigitte Lacombe (France), actor Clive Owen (United Kingdom), actress Alba Rohrwacher (Italy) and director Małgorzata Szumowska (Poland).

The Best First Feature Award was launched in 2006 when Berlinale "decided to be more committed to supporting the next generation of film makers," the organisers revealed in the press release.

The three-person jury includes actor Enrico Lo Verso (Italy), director Ursula Meier (Switzerland / France) and the director and producer Michel Franco (Mexico).

"The award is endowed with 50,000 euros and the prize money is to be split between the producer and the director of the winning film. Additionally, the director will be awarded with a high-quality viewfinder as both a useful instrument and memorable trophy," the organisers explained.

This year, 18 films have been nominated for the Best First Feature Award. The winners will be announced at the official Award Ceremony in the Berlinale Palast on 20 February.

The Berlin International Film Festival's 66th edition will run between 11 and 21 February 2016.
