Zamalek midfield linchpin Tarek Hamed has been ruled out of Tuesday's anticipated Cairo derby against arch-rivals Ahly after failing to recover from injury in time, the club said on Sunday.

Playmaker Mohamed Ibrahim is also out due to injury, while Mohamed Koffi will be on the sidelines because of a suspension.

Newly-signed Zambian striker Emmanuel Mayuka will also not be playing because of technical reasons.

The title-holders Zamalek who ended Ahly's eight-season hegemony last season are currently second in the table with 31 points, four behind Ahly.

The club is in ongoing negotiations with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to play the game in Cairo after rejecting to play the match in Alexandria.
