Karim Benzema has been dropped from Real Madrid's squad for Sunday's away match at Malaga in the Spanish league.
Spanish media reports indicate Benzema picked up an injury during practice on Saturday.
Coach Zinedine Zidane has called reserve team player Borja Mayoral to fill the France striker's place.
Madrid trails leader Barcelona by 10 points in third place, one point behind second-place Atletico Madrid.
Benzema has scored 19 goals in as many league matches this season.
