Starting 16 March Zawya will be hosting the Ibero-American Film Week, screening 16 films from 16 countries.
The programme will bring a selection of recent films from Latin America, Spain and Portugal, from different genres ranging between thrillers to comedy to documentary, collectively charting an image of these spaces in movement.
According to Zawya, “In a bold and creative cinematographic language, they express the energy of vibrant countries revisiting their past, raising essential questions and telling the pressing stories of our time.”
The films are Paulina (Argentina, thriller, 2015), La Jaula De Oro (Mexico, drama, 2013), Los Hongos (Columbia, 2014), Los Puños de una Nación (Panama, documentary, 2005), The Second Mother (Brazil, drama/comedy 2015), Libertador (Venezuela, drama 2013), Cuestión de Fe (Bolivia, drama, 1995), La Isla Minima (Spain, crime, 2014), Amalia (Portugal, biography/musical 2008), Bombal (Chile, drama, 2011), Ixcanul (Guatemala, drama, 2015), 7 Cajas (Paraguay, thriller, 2012), La Demora (Uruguay, drama, 2012), Rabia (Ecuador, romantic thriller, 2009), Dolares de Arena (Dominican Rep., drama, 2014) and Casa Dentro (Peru, drama, 2013).
