Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held talks earlier Thursday with King Salman of Saudi Arabia in Hefr Al-Batin, North Saudi Arabia during the finale of Saudi-led "Thunder of the North" military exercise, the Egyptian Presidency announced.
The Egyptian president and Saudi king discussed the latest regional developments as well as the strategic relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
President El-Sisi stressed during the meeting that the national security of Gulf states was part of Egypt's national security
The Egyptian President also pointed out in his meeting with the Saudi King that the "Thunder of the North" military exercise are not aimed at any specific party but rather reflect the ability of the Arabs to unite and defend their interest.
The Saudi King praised the important strategic role of Egypt, the Egyptian presidency added in its statement.
The "Thunder of North" military exercise which ended on Thursday included army forces units from 20 Arab and Muslim countries including Egypt.
Salman and Sisi's meeting was attended by Saudi crown prince and first deputy prime minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohamed Bin Nayef and deputy crown prince and Saudi Minister of Defence Mohamed Bin Salman.
King Salman is expected to visit Egypt in April.
