Austrian pianist Anna Magdalena Kokits will perform between 22 and 24 March at the Alexandria Opera House, the Damanhour Opera House and the Arabic Music Institute.
Despite her young age, Kokits already has a number of achievements in her repertoire, winning several prizes in national and international competitions
Born in Vienna in 1988, she received her first piano tuition at the age of four, later studying at the Vienna Conservatorium Private University under Alejandro Geberovich.
While still in her teens she began performing in solo recitals and with a number of renowned orchestras, including the Tonkünstler Orchester Niederösterreich and the Moscow Virtuosos.
According to the concert's promotional material, Kokits devotes a lot of her time to contemporary music, and has cooperated closely with composers such as Richard Dünser, Tomasz Skweres, Helmut Schmidinger, Thomas Larcher, Christoph Renhart and Lukas Haselböck.
She is also particularly interested in rediscovering lesser-known or forgotten repertoires. At present, she is working on the premiere recording of the complete piano works of Ernst Toch (1887-1964) and a CD of chamber pieces by Mieczyslaw Weinberg (1919-1996).
