Humperdinck (born Arnold George Dorsey in 1936) came to prominence in the 1960s with the hits Release Me and The Last Waltz, with his heydays extending into the 1970s.

The singer borrowed his stage name from the nineteenth century German composer, known mainly for his opera Hänsel und Gretel.

"The King of Romance's" most followers were in the UK and other European countries, where he was often competing with Tom Jones.

His entry to the US top charts nevertheless came with After the Lovin, a song released in 1976. He then embarked on tours across the North America and performed frequently in Las Vegas.

The following years saw many compilations of his known hits released.

The return to the old pop in the 1990s allowed Humperdinck to revive the hearts of his fans. He remains active until date and through his concerts rekindles the memories of older generations in particular, though has a significant amount of younger followers.

In his career, Humperdinck has sold over 150 million albums.

The upcoming event in Cairo will be Humperdinck's first concert in Egypt.

According to the organisers, tickets for the concert will go on sale on Thursday 24 March in the lobby of Semiramis Intercontinental Cairo (1pm - 10am), as well as at the bookshop of the Baron hotel in Heliopolis (9am to 9pm).
