The Egyptian Football Association's (EFA) board, under the helms of Gamal Allam, will not "rush resigning" despite being dissolved by a court ruling over the suspected rigging of 2012 elections.
"The association board agreed not to rush resigning after the court ruling so it can remain in place as the national team makes its way to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations," Allam told an Egyptian TV programme on Tuesday evening.
Egypt defeated Nigeria 1-0 at home on Tuesday at Borg El-Arab Stadium to move to the brink of qualifying for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 2010.
"We have been under attack recently with accusations of failure but our team proved that we have made a good change in the national teams' performance."
The win cemented Egypt's position on top of Group G with seven points, five clear of second-placed Nigeria who have now lost hope of reaching Africa's most prestigious tournament in Gabon next year, after three years of absence.
"Winning against Nigeria is a big achievement and we have now 95% qualified to the Gabon tournament. Let us celebrate the achievement and not rush with the resignation," Allam added.
The EFA was dissolved after Sunday's verdict with a case that dates back to a lawsuit filed in 2013 by the president of the second division football team Bani Ebeid, Hermas Radwan, challenging the integrity of the voting process in the association's 2012 elections.
The regular four-year elections of a new board are set to take place in September 2016.
The association may refer a case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to stay in their position especially as FIFA doesn't allow governmental interference into sports affairs.
