Popular Brazilian thrash metal band Sepultura will perform for the first time in Cairo on Saturday 4 June at the Nile Country Club.
Nader Sadek’s one-man Death Metal project, as well as two local bands, Perpetual Ferocity and Gorynov, will open for Sepultura in the much-anticipated concert.
“The concert aims to restore the image of tourism in Egypt and to show that the country is able to hold and host big concerts,” organiser and musician Sadek told Ahram Online.
“When Sepultura announced on their social media pages that they will perform in Egypt, many of the fans thought that Egypt was full of tents and camels. We want to export an image that Egypt has a music scene,” Sadek added.
The young artist hopes to bring more international bands to perform in Egypt.
“I am currently working on bringing Metallica to play by the pyramids,” Sadek explained.
Sadek also explained that his organising team acquired the necessary permits to hold the concert, both from officials and from the Musicians Syndicate.
Sepultura will hold a press conference on Thursday.
