A Dutch diver died today after drowning in the Red Sea waters of the town of Marsa Allam.
The diver, Paul Henry Marie, 44, was diving among a group of divers in Ras Hankurab, south of Marsa Allam when he drowned. His fellow divers were not able to revive him.
Egypt’s prosecution has ordered his body be transferred to the Dutch embassy and an investigation into his death will be launched.
This is the second incident where a diver drowns in Marsa Allam in various months. Just last August, 33-year-old Ismail Marzouk drowned while on diving trip with a group of British divers in the city.
