Egypt condemned on Tuesday a terrorist attack that took place in Paris Monday night, expressing condolences and support for the families of the victims, the French people and the French government.

A Frenchman who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State militant group stabbed to death a police commander and his partner, taking their three-year-old son hostage before being killed by police.

"Terrorism does not differentiate between religion or race or nationality," foreign ministry spokesperson, Ahmed Abu Zeid, said in the statement.

Abu Zeid called once again on the international community to unite in order to fight terrorism and eradicate its roots.
