UEFA has fined the Portuguese football federation 5,000 euros ($5,560) because one of its fans ran onto the pitch toward Cristiano Ronaldo during a quarterfinal game against Poland.
The man, wearing a shirt in Portugal colors, evaded security to get close to Ronaldo during extra time of the match in Marseille last Thursday.
UEFA says its disciplinary panel imposed the standard fine for a ''field invasion,'' plus a warning over its fans encroaching onto the playing area after Portugal won in a penalty shootout.
