Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi is on the verge of completing a summer move to Egyptian league champions Ahly from Tunisia's Sfaxien, Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Having sent Gabon striker Malick Evouna to China's Tianjin Teda in return of a hefty $8million price tag just a few days ago, Ahly were understood to be on the lookout for a top-notch foreign replacement.

The Cairo giants have reportedly tabled a $1million bid for the services of the 20-year-old, who has been named to Nigeria's U-23 man squad for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics this summer.

As talks between the two sides reach their final stages, Ahly seem to be on course to acquire Ajayi – who plays as a left winger for the Tunisian club.

Ahly have been keen to beef up their attacking department following the departure of Evouna -- who bagged 12 league goals in his side's triumphant campaign last season -- and the prospected $6 million move of highly-rated winger Ramadan Sobhi to English Premier League side Stoke City.

The 38-time Egyptian league champions have been underwhelming as of late, having slipped to the bottom of their CAF Champions League Group A with zero points following two defeats at the hands of Zambia's ZESCO and Ivory Coast's ASEC Mimosa.
