The last flight on the world tour by the solar-powered airplane Solar Impulse 2, which landed in Cairo Wednesday, has been postponed due to stomach problems pilot Bertrand Piccard has suffered and to bad weather, Piccard said Saturday on Twitter.

It is not yet determined when the flight will take off.

"I'm sick. Stomach upset. I prefer to postpone the take-off @solarimpulse. I cannot go flying 48 hours in that shape. Sorry," tweeted Piccard.

Abu Dhabi is the starting and ending point of the round-the-world tour.

"Due to worsening weather conditions on the ground in Egypt and pilot health, we have decided to prioritise pilot and airplane safety," Solar Impulse 2 said in an e-mailed travel update.

"The latest wind reading was too high to take Si2 safely out of the tent and onto the runway," read a blog post on Solar Impulse's website.

The tour, which started in March 2015, aims at promoting clean technology.
