The Egyptian Museum in Cairo is to put on the ancient piece of pottery selected as the "piece of the month" on Facebook on display in the museum's foyer starting Friday.

Elham Salah, head of the museums department at the antiquities ministry, said that the cosmetic pot from the reign of King Tutankhamun won August's vote for piece of the month on the ministry's Facebook page.

The piece is a cylindric pot carved in alabaster and decorated with lotus flowers and animals, with a lion-shaped handle. Salah describes the piece as "distinguished."

The "piece of the month" competition was begun last month, with ministry officials putting 13 pieces from the museum's collections on their Facebook page for the vote.
