With upcoming friendlies against Guinea and South Africa, Egypt's national squad has been boosted by the presence at the training camp of a number of players based abroad, among them Roma winger Mohamed Salah and Stoke City forward Ramadan Sobhi.

The Pharaohs are scheduled to face Guinea on Tuesday and South Africa on 6 September, in preparation for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Hull City winger Ahmed Elmohamady, left-back Mohamed Abdel-Shafi who plays for Ahly Jeddah, Basel's defender Omar Gaber, and midfielder Sam Morsi who plays for Wigan have all have joined the training camp in Alexandria.

In June, World Cup-hungry Egypt were drawn in a tight group for the qualifiers' final round, alongside Ghana, Congo and Uganda.

Egypt kicks off its World Cup qualifying campaign against Congo on 3 October.

Seven-time African champions, Egypt have made only two World Cup appearances, both in Italy, in 1934 and 1990.
