Lebanese band Adonis will bring their pop-rock sound to Cairo's El-Genaina Theatre on Wednesday 28 September. 

Founded in January 2011, Adonis is a five-member Lebanese band “famed for its festive melodies and engaging Arabic lyrics [and is] weaved around storytelling, catchy tunes, and playful arrangements,” reads the band description on Facebook.

Adonis line-up includes Anthony Khoury (vocals & keys), Joey Abou Jawdeh (guitar), Gio Fikany (bass guitar), and Nicola Hakim (drums).

The band has a budding repertoire comprising two albums: Daw L Baladyyi (2011) and Men Shou Bteshki Beirut (2013). The third album, done in collaboration with Lebanese producer and musician Jean-Marie Riachi, will be released later this year. 

Their Cairo concert is part of El-Genaina Theatre’s September programme which included a concert by Lebanese singer and songwriter Tania Saleh on 4 September, featuring Egyptian musician Hazem Shaheen on oud.

Upcoming events at the theatre include a performance by AlHadraa troupe on 8 September, a concert featuring Jordanian band Random House and Palestinian musician Tamer Abu Ghazaleh on 24 September, and a new weekly performance titled Zambalek by the students of Al-Darb Al-Ahmar Arts School.
