Egypt manager Hector Cuper is optimistic despite his side's disappointing results in last week's freindlies, adding the results in friendly games are not a priority for him.

The Pharaohs lost 1-0 to South Africa in a friendly game in Johannesburg Tuesday, one week after being held to a 1-1 draw by Guinea at home.

"My goal is to gain every game, but it is not a big matter to lose a friendly game," Cuper told a TV programme Wednesday.

"Our result against South Africa was negative, but the experience in total was positive.

"We tested some new players and we tried some new tactics. We played well against South Africa and we created many goal-scoring opportunities."

"In a friendly game the result is not important." he added.

Egypt will launch their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign 3 October when they face Congo away from home.

The Pharaohs, who have not reached the World Cup since 1990, were drawn in Group G alongside Ghana, Congo and Rwanda.
