Ahmed Hamoudi has joined newly-promoted Saudi side El-Batin nearly a week after Swiss champions Basel announced that the Egyptian's contract with the club was terminated by mutual consent.

Hamoudi, 26, was a subject of interest for top Cairo duo Ahly and Zamalek after ending his one-year loan stint with the latter.

Having returned to parent club Basel, whom he joined from Smouha in 2014 on a four-year deal, Hamoudi was set for a move back to Cairo after a fine season on loan with the Whites.

Zamalek, however, declared that they will not be signing the Egypt international, preferring instead to keep the remaining slot in their roster for a January signing.

And with Ahly eventually opting against securing his services, Hamoudi elected to join newcomers El-Batin, who announced on their official Twitter account that they signed the ex-Smouha forward.

Hamoudi now becomes the third Egyptian to play in the Saudi league, with ex-Zamalek full-back Mohamed Abdel-Shafi plying his trade at Ahly Jeddah, and Mahmoud 'Kahraba' spending a one-year loan at Ittihad.
