Helmeyit El-Zatoun Youth Centre has joined the Cinema Club of the Youth Centres' project at the ministry of sports, raising the number of youth centres in Cairo who have joined the project to 35.
Growth in the number of centres joining the project comes after the success of the Club's activities in its first year (2015-2016).
Some of the participating centres now include Haikstep, Sahel, Zeinhom, Andalus, Nasr City, Rod El-Farag and Ein El-Seera Youth Centres.
Poet Ahmed Samak—director of the artistic department in the ministry's youth administration office, and director of the project—said that "cinema clubs have become an important tool to spread cultural awareness among youth, and for discovering and supporting talents," according to Al-Ahram Arabic Gate.
The artistic department is organizing an annual competition in the arts for youth centres, including entries for mobile films as requested by many youth centre members. The competition will be juried next November.
