Egypt's Alexandria Port Authority reopened on Wednesday two ports in the Mediterranean city following weather improvement after days of unstable conditions, state news agency MENA reported.

The ports of Alexandria and Dekheila were shut down on Tuesday due to "bad weather conditions" as authorities feared collisions between ships and vessels or with port quays.

Days of heavy rain and flooding caused accidents that killed 26 people and injured more than 70 across the country, mostly in Red Sea cities and southern governorates, according to health authorities.

The floods displaced hundreds of people, swept dozens of cars off highways and caused electricity blackouts—mainly in the Red Sea city of Ras Gharib, one of the worst-hit areas.
