Egypt saw 149 new companies established in the week to 20 October, compared to 185 in the previous week, according to figures from the General Investment Authority.
Total capital injected also decreased compared to last week, to end at LE153 million ($25.6 million), compared to L.E 169 million ($32.8 millions) the previous week.
The new investment generated an estimated 1656 jobs.
The services sector continued to see the most new companies established with 42, followed by the industrial sector at 30, and then the telecommunication and information technology sector, with 12 new companies. Tourism saw only the establishment of four new companies while agricultural and financial sectors witnessed the establishment of one company each.
Alexandria saw the most new capital, followed by Assiout, then Cairo.
Some 39 per cent of jobs created last week were technical, 37 per cent were administrative, and 11 per cent were in agriculture and two per cent in tourism.
Some 75.1 per cent of total capital was Egyptian, 10.5 per cent from foreigner investors, and 4.4 per cent from Arab investors.
