Art Alert: World Theatre exhibition opens at the Cairo Opera

A solo exhibition by artist Marianne Manda titled World Theatre will be launched on Wednesday 28 December in the library hall at Cairo Opera House.

Born in Kempten/Allgaeu, Germany, Manda travelled the world and spent many years in Yemen and Egypt.

Manda graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, Germany, and has taught art in several German cities as well as Austria. She was a guest lecturer for painting and graphic arts at the 6 October University, Cairo, in 2012/2013.

Her numerous exhibitions and projects, firework installations, performances and art-productions were showcased in Germany, Austria, USA, Brazil, Pacific Ocean, Serbia, Syria, Unites Arab Emirates, Yemen and Egypt.

The upcoming World Theatre exhibition will be inaugurated at 7.30pm on Wednesday, with artist Lobna M. Deghedy introducing Manda and her work.

Deghediwho's presentation will focus on Manda's calligraphy project Secret Messages, which encompasses 450 etchings created between 2003 and 2004.

The evening will also include a music performance by Laila Tarek Bahgat.

The exhibition will conitnue until 3 Janauary 2017.
