Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry refused to get carried away with a Cairo derby victory over Zamalek on Thursday, insisting that there is still a long way to go in the Egyptian Premier League.

Two goals from Moemen Zakareya and substitute Junior Ajayi helped Ahly maintain a nine-year unbeaten run in the league against Zamalek and extended their lead over their arch rivals to 11 points, although the latter still have two games in hand.

"Our win in the derby was very important as we extended the gap with Zamalek," El-Badry told the post-match news conference.

"Now it's time for celebrations but I ask my players not to get carried away because we haven't won the league yet.

"I'm delighted of course and it's a step forward (towards the league title) but nothing is settled yet."

Ahly were better in a first half they dominated but were pegged back in the second, with Zamalek piling on pressure in search of an equaliser.

El-Badry defended his team's tactics after the break, saying it was important not to take any risks after going ahead.

"We were better in the first half and we managed to score the opener. We played against a strong team and it is normal to be cautious against such sides," he added.

"We relied on the counter attacks and set pieces and we scored the second goal from a set piece."
