Ahly newly-signed Ivorian striker Souleymane Coulibaly has expressed delight over the move to the Egyptian Red Devils, saying he eyes domestic and continental titles with the team.

"I know Ahly since my early childhood and I always wanted to belong to this great entity like any African player," the 22-year-old forward, who joined Ahly this week from Scottish club Kilmarnock, told Ahly's official website Wednesday.

Coulibaly signed a three-year and a half contract for a reported $750,000 on Tuesday.

"Many clubs in Africa wanted my services… I left Africa at the age of 12 to play in Greece and I played in Tottenham Hotspur F.C. when I was only 17," Coulibaly said.

Coulibaly, who previously played for Grosseto, Bari, Pistoiese, Peterborough United and Newport County, scored 11 goals with Kilmarnock this season.

"It is not easy to return to Africa but I know I am with the continent's giants and I will do my best to play a role in accomplishing more success with Ahly," Coulibaly added

Coulibaly has become Ahly's second winter signing after the team acquired last week the services of Egyptian midfielder Amr Barakat from Belgium club Lierse.

"I had European offers too but I preferred Ahly to gain more experiences. I know that Ahly some of the most famous African players ever including Mohamed Abou-Treika, a legend I hope to meet," Coulibaly expressed.

Ahly currently lead the Egyptian Premiere League table with 45 points after 17 matches.
