Ahly's football team board headed by Mahmoud Taher was reappointed again on Wednesday by the Egyptian Ministry of Sports to remain in charge of the Cairo giants for another year.

Minister of Sports Khaled Abdel-Aziz intervened in January 2016 to appoint board members to administer the club for a year, or until their next general-assembly, after the High Administrative Court dissolved the management due to a “procedural failure” in the 2014 elections.

In March 2016, the court rejected an appeal from Taher's board against its dissolution.

The lawsuit against the 2014 election results was launched by two members of the club's general assembly. The members demanded that the results be suspended, claiming that elections were called in a meeting that did not reach a quorum for voting.

The episode marked the first time for an Ahly board to be dissolved by a court ruling.

Ahly has traditionally been lauded for its administrative stability, cited by many as one of the main reasons behind the club's huge success.

The 38-time Egyptian league champions Ahly lead this season's league table with 45 points, 11 ahead of third-placed arch rivals Zamalek who have two matches yet to play.
