Roma's coach Luciano Spalletti said on Wednesday that Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah will not feature in his squad that will play against Spanish side Villarreal in a Europa League round of 32 game on Thursday.
Rome won the first-leg 4-0 in Spain and Spalletti decided to rest his classy winger and the team's striker Edin Dzeko from Thursday's clash.
"They are both champions at an international level, but they won't play tomorrow,'' Spalletti told the post-match news conference.
"Tomorrow night they won't play, and depending on how the others perform, maybe they won't play the next fixture either."
The 25-year-old was instrumental in Egypt's Nations Cup campaign that saw the Pharaohs lose the final 1-2 to Cameroon earlier this month, scoring twice in six games.
He is a key player in Spalletti's squad, scoring eight Serie A goals this season so far.
