AS Roma still have a chance to pip firm favorites Juventus to the Italian Serie A title, Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah said on Friday.
The Giallorossi, who last won the Serie A in 2001, are six points behind leaders Juventus with eight matches remaining, with the title holders looking close to landing a record sixth straight title.
“There are six points separating us from Juventus and we must do better. We want to win something,” Mohamed Salah said in an interview with Sky Italia.
Roma have only the league to play for, having been eliminated from the Europa League and the Italian Cup, losing to French side Lyon and city rivals Lazio respectively.
Salah scored a brace as Roma defeated Lazio 3-2 in the second leg of the Italian Cup semi-final last Tuesday but it was enough as his side bowed out following a 4-3 aggregate defeat.
“This is football; we have to turn the page. We have to believe it,” Salah added.
“Maybe we were tired a little: with Lyon we lost away from home and won the return, the same with Lazio. However, we must do better.”
Salah is enjoying another successful season with Roma, having scored 14 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions, including 10 in the Serie A. He also created 11 goals.
Recent reports linked him with a summer move back to the English Premier League, where he had an unsuccessful stint with Chelsea.
