Liverpool are currently in talks with AS Roma over a potential move for Egypt star Mohamed Salah to the English Premier League next season, the BBC has reported.
Despite seing a £28million bid for Salah’s services rebuffed by the Serie A side, Liverpool seem not to have given up yet their on pursuit of the Egyptian international – who is believed to be a prime target for manager Jurgen Klopp.
With talks still ongoing, Roma – who finished Serie A runners-up last season – are understood to be keen to sell their prized asset for a sum between £35 and £40million.
Salah, 24, has enjoyed a superb season in Roma since making his switch permanent last summer, notching 15 goals in 31 league games.
He is believed to be tempted by a return to the English Premier League after an unsuccessful spell in 2015 at Liverpool rivals and league champions Chelsea – whom he joined from Switzerland's Basel in January 2014.
It remains to be seen what Salah’s next destination would be, with Liverpool keen to bolster their squad ahead of their UEFA Champions League campaign next season.
