Egyptian and Saudi Arabian foreign ministers discuss Qatar, regional issues

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry spoke by phone with his Saudi counterpart Adel Al-Jubair on Friday about a number of regional issues, including relations with Qatar, state news agency MENA reported.

The two ministers also exchanged visions and assessments in order to coordinate bilaterally in regional and international arenas, according to a statement by Ahmed Abu Zeid, the Egyptian foreign ministry spokesman.

On Monday, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen and the eastern-based government of Libya cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing the Gulf country of supporting terrorist groups, charges Doha has denied.

On Thursday, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain issued a joint statement designating 12 entities and 59 individuals as involved in terrorist activities and linked to Qatar.
