Egyptian Culture Minister Hemly El-Namnam appointed on Saturday theatre director Adel Hassan as director of the Youth Theatre Troupe, head of the Artistic Theatre House Ismail Mokhtar announced.

Hassan is the director of the successful play Qawaed Al-Eshq El-Arbaen (The Forty Rules of Love), performed by the Modern Theatre Troupe. The play opened in March and is currently running at El-Salam Theatre, extended from the planned two weeks in Ramadan owing to its critical and popular success.

Hassan has directed several plays, including Mot Fawdawy Sodfa (Chaotic Accidental Death) and El-Gabal (The Mountain).

He has been a member of the National Theatre Troupe, and headed the Media Centre for the Artistic Theatre House, which he founded with several youth members.

Mokhtar added in a press release that Hassan was nominated and selected to manage the Youth Theatre Troupe in recognition for his distinct role in developing the Egyptian theatre scene.
