Egypt's Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry has blamed refereeing mistakes and the defence errors of his team as the main reasons behind Tuesday's 2-0 loss to Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca.

The Reds lost the away game to the Moroccan team in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League group stage.

"Wydad's first goal came after an obvious mistake by the referee while an error in arranging our defence line allowed for the second goal," the coach said in the press conference after the match.

Two second-half goals from striker Fabrice Ondama and substitute Walid El-Karti gave the Moroccans a vital three points against an opponent that managed to beat them with the same scoreline in the previous Group D game.

The loss to Wydad is the first for Ahly under the guidance of El-Badry this season, in which the Cairo giants played 40 matches in all competitions, winning in 29 and drawing in the remaining 10.

"We deployed a defencive strategy in the first half and we missed a chance to secure a draw after the break," said El-Badry, who Guided Ahly to clinch their 39^th Egyptian league title this season.

"We still have two difficult matches and anything is possible now in our group," the coach concluded.

Ahly remain in charge of the group, level on seven points with Zambia’s Zanaco - who visit rock-bottom Cameroon’s Cotonsport later on Tuesday.

Wydad are third with their second win in the group stage.
